Driven by industrial energy-saving retrofits and the automation upgrade of food processing, infrared heat lamps, as core thermal radiation components, are witnessing sustained expansion. The latest market research published by 360 Research Reports shows that the global infrared (IR) heat lamp market was valued at approximately USD 1.283 billion in 2026 and is projected to grow to USD 2.597 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.15% over the forecast period — significantly outpacing the conventional electric heating element market. Among downstream applications, the food processing sector has emerged as the most important growth driver for infrared heat lamps.

Infrared heat lamps operate by using tungsten or carbon fiber heating elements inside high-purity quartz tubes to generate high temperatures, emitting infrared radiation at specific wavelengths that is directly absorbed by water molecules and organic compounds in the target material and converted into thermal energy. Compared with conventional resistance heating and hot-air circulation, infrared heating requires no air as a heat-transfer medium, offering low thermal inertia, rapid warm-up (reaching rated power within seconds), high energy utilization, and precise temperature control — making it particularly suitable for continuous production lines in the food industry that demand high temperature uniformity and tight processing cadence.

In terms of application structure, food processing occupies a central position in downstream demand for infrared heat lamps. An industry report published by Dataintelo notes that the global food and beverage processing industry was valued at USD 1.94 trillion in 2025 and is increasingly deploying infrared heating technology in drying, baking, and pasteurization processes. In biscuit and cracker manufacturing, medium-wave infrared systems rapidly remove moisture while preserving product quality, reducing processing time by 30–45% compared with conventional ovens. In coffee roasting, infrared technology achieves more consistent roasting profiles through precise temperature control. The penetration of infrared heat lamps is also rising in nut roasting, fruit and vegetable dehydration, and meat surface pasteurization.

At the market segmentation level, infrared heat lamps are classified into three types by appearance: red type, clear type, and inside frosted type. Clear-type lamps offer the highest radiation efficiency and are mostly used for industrial rapid drying; red-type lamps reduce glare and are suitable for food baking and commercial heating; inside frosted-type lamps provide more uniform diffuse radiation and are commonly used in food processing scenarios requiring gentle heating. Beyond food processing, major demand segments include industrial drying, medical therapy, automotive paint curing, and livestock farming.

Regionally, the Asia-Pacific region, backed by its massive food manufacturing capacity and ongoing industrial automation investment, has become the fastest-growing market for infrared heat lamps. China, as one of the world's largest food producers, is projected to see its food drying equipment market reach RMB 5.16 billion in 2026, according to industry research forecasts, with installations of continuous infrared drying lines rising year by year across categories such as fruit and vegetable crisps, roasted nuts, and pet food. The maturity of China's domestic quartz material supply chain has also provided cost and delivery advantages for the localization of infrared heat lamps.

Industry analysts believe that as the digital transformation of the food industry deepens — with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and six other departments targeting a 75% numerical control rate for key processes in large-scale food enterprises by 2027 — the integration of infrared heat lamps with temperature sensors and online moisture monitoring systems will further accelerate. Manufacturers capable of multi-band customization, long service life (mid-to-high-end carbon fiber tubes can achieve a design life of over 5,000 hours), and batch consistency testing are well positioned to capture greater market share in the food processing growth segment.
