Infrared Heating Tubes Drive Winter Heating Upgrade: Core Components Keeping Indoor and Outdoor Spaces Warm

As temperatures drop in winter, heating appliances enter their peak sales season. According to the latest report from Global Market Insights, the global space heater market was valued at approximately USD 8.2 billion in 2025, is expected to reach USD 8.8 billion in 2026, and is projected to grow to USD 16.1 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9%. Driven by growing demand for energy efficiency, comfort and health, infrared radiant heating is shifting winter heating from "hot-air convection" toward "direct radiation," establishing itself as an important technology direction for energy-saving and comfortable warmth.

The working principle of infrared heating differs fundamentally from that of conventional electric heaters. As Kexue China (Science Popularization China) explains, infrared radiant heating technology works by having the heating element emit infrared radiation at specific wavelengths; when the radiation is absorbed by an object, the object is heated directly, without air serving as an intermediate heat-transfer medium. Unlike convection heating, which warms the air first and then the body, infrared radiation acts directly on people and surfaces—much like sunlight warming the skin on a cold day. Scientific research shows that human skin achieves an average absorptivity of 0.93–0.95 in the 6–9 μm band, and the 8–15 μm band is known in medical circles as the "life light" wavelength range. Far-infrared energy can penetrate beneath the skin surface, delivering a comfortable, deep-seated warmth—this is the core reason far-infrared heaters are so widely favored.

The heating tube is the "heart" of an infrared heater, and different scenarios require different heating elements. Halogen infrared heating tubes reach full power within 1–2 seconds, operate at temperatures of 800–1200°C, and deliver radiant heat over distances of up to 3–5 meters, making them ideal for large spaces that need rapid warming, such as factories, warehouses, commercial halls, patios and terraces—and the mainstream choice for outdoor patio heaters. Carbon fiber infrared heating tubes use a pure black-body carbon fiber heating element, achieving an electrothermal conversion efficiency of 95%–98% and emitting mid- and far-infrared radiation in the 2–10 μm range that closely matches the absorption bands of the human body. With extremely low visible light output, 2–3 second warm-up times and a service life of 8,000–10,000 hours, they save 15%–25% energy compared with conventional quartz tubes, making them the preferred choice for prolonged use in bedrooms, living rooms, offices, and rooms for infants and the elderly. Ruby and gold-plated low-brightness heating tubes filter out more than 90% of visible light glare and emit a soft, warm glow with an infrared radiation efficiency of 75%–85%, designed for high-end bedrooms, bathrooms, hotels, clubs and spas where lighting and ambiance matter.

Linyi Lanjing Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd., dedicated to quartz heating for nearly five decades since its founding in 1976, has built a full industrial chain from high-purity quartz sand to finished heating tubes and infrared electric heaters. The company's infrared electric heaters use low-brightness heating tubes with an electrothermal radiation conversion efficiency of over 70%, emitting far-infrared wavelengths in the 3–14 μm range—the so-called "light of life"—which account for 80% of the total wavelength output. With IP54 waterproof design, they are suitable for indoor spaces, saunas, bathrooms, gardens, outdoor restaurant areas and farm animal breeding. The company holds 30 authorized patents, including 14 invention patents, and its products have passed international certifications including GS, CE, RoHS and UL, with a sales network covering more than 100 countries and regions. From home "sun lamps" to commercial patio heaters, Chinese infrared heating components are keeping households around the world warm through winter with efficient, comfortable and energy-saving technology.
